Media
filters and media type systems were originally developed out of a need for a reliable
system that would handle mist from wet grinding applications and other processes
with combinations of liquid/solid, liquid/vapor, or solid/vapor.
 This system has become extremely popular over the years, based on
its simplicity and relatively low cost, and has been widely copied.
The current state of the art is modular and includes options for
prefilters, HEPA, activated carbon, as well as various high pressure
blowers. Horizontal and
vertical systems are available is sizes ranging from 500 to 18,000 cfm.
As stated above, this system is a natural for use on all types of wet
grinding, cast iron machining, and has also found favor in the die casting industry. Other applications include rubber and plastics, food
processing, and occasionally welding fume.
